World PeaceLancaster Interchurch Peace Witness (LIPW) is a grassroots association of Lancaster County Christian laity, clergy and congregations dedicated to promoting biblical values of justice, peace and nonviolent solutions to conflict.

In pursuit of our vision of a secure, sustainable and just world for all people, we:

  • Educate ourselves and others on the causes of war, poverty and racism, and the things that make for peace
  • Promote peacebuilding locally and internationally
  • Serve congregations in their peace witness
  • Advocate policies and actions consistent with our vision
  • Ally with organizations and movements that share our values
  • Witness publicly to our commitment to peace and justice

We share our witness for peace and justice in public educational events, letters to the editor, workshops, and interest groups.

We raise awareness about peaceful solutions and the Christian mandate to seek peace by  sponsoring a speaker series. LIPW speakers have included  Jim Wallis  of Sojourners magazine, Donald Kraybill of Elizabethtown College, Jonathan Kuttab, Palestinian Christian Attorney, Sister Joan Chittister,  executive director of Benetvision, a resource and research center for contemporary spirituality, Bob Edgar of Common Cause, Dr. Charles Kimball and Dr. Trita Parsi.

Our Middle East Interest Group and our Latin America Interest Group focus attention on those regions through book studies, discussions, and speaking events. They each meet on a monthly basis during the academic year. For information: thewebbers@verizon.net.
