About the Shalom Conference

The Shalom Conference is an ecumenical gathering devoted to exploring the church’s call to peacemaking. It is sponsored by participating church denominations and organizations, including the Church of the Brethren, Episcopal, Mennonite, Presbyterian, the United Church of Christ, the United Methodist Church, Every Church a Peace Church, and other denominations and faith traditions. The conference is held in the Lancaster area biennially in the early part of the year.

The 2005 SHALOM Conference theme of Tolerance invites people of various ethnic, faith traditions and lifestyles to take a closer look at how we relate to each other in our daily lives. Dorothy Cotton will deliver the keynote address on Lessons from the Past, Visions for the Future. We hope to challenge our own acceptance of intolerance toward others to make the future be one of more tolerance of our differences.

All persons are welcome and invited. The Friday evening session is open to the public without registration. An offering toward conference expenses will be received. For the Saturday conference events, registration is required.
